Our soap is made using a technique called "cold process". This is the chemical reaction between an alkali (sodium hydroxide) and fatty acids (fats and oils). Just enough heat is used to melt the fats and oils. The alkali solution is then added and the blend is stirred thoroughly. The chemical process is called "saponification". It is during this process that the separate ingredients combine and turn into soap and glycerin.
After the solution has thickened and begun to turn into soap, we add various colors, fragrances, grains and botanicals to enhance the formula. We are very careful with our measurements to make sure that there is no excess alkali when the soap is completed. Instead, the end product is a very gentle, true soap with delightful fragrances and other goodies-a real treat for your skin.
Our soap is different from what is generally found commercially. The naturally occurring glycerin is often removed by commercial makers and used to create lotions, leaving the soap more drying. We use food grade oils and other high quality ingredients. Often commercial makes use waste oils or animal fats.
We believe that your skin deserves only the best.
We encourage you to ask us questions about our soapmaking process. We feel that it is important that you know what you are putting on your skin.
